Aaron Calafato's primary form of expression is that of a Monologist, Podcast Host & Speaker using both live performance (stage) and audio (radio/podcast) as his mediums. While Calafato's storytelling style is distinctive, it has been to compared to that of monologist Spading Gray and radio legend Jean Shepard.
In 2016 Aaron launched the Authentic Audio Podcast. The podcast features dynamic conversations with diverse guests from Cleveland, the American Rustbelt and beyond.
Aaron has also received national attention for his storytelling work and is a recipient of a 2012 Emerging Artist Grant from The Puffin Foundation.
He has been featured in and on NPR, The Huffington Post, The Nation, Real Money with Ali Velshi, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Cleveland Scene Magazine, Belt Magazine, RT-America, WEWS ABC Channel 5, Portland Press Herald, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Akron Beacon Journal, The Fiscal Times, The Hill and Washington Monthly.
Aaron studied Acting at HB studio and the Michael Howard Studio in NYC. He has performed on radio, stage, screen and television in New York and throughout the United States. His monologues, stories, and events have been screened and staged over 150 times in 20 states.
His breakthrough monologue (FOR PROFIT) was praised nationally for its jarring look inside the For Profit educational industry, the 1 trillion dollar student debt crisis, and its vibrant portrayal of the exploitation of the American student.
In addition to his performance and podcast work, Aaron serves as Public Relations Director for University Circle United Methodist Church (An inclusive and progressive faith community in urban Cleveland, OH).
